Short Bio
A Kuwaiti contemporary artist currently based in Houston, Texas specializing in capturing the beautiful imperfections of life
Biography
As a Kuwaiti born contemporary artist currently based in Houston, Texas, Ali Alamdar has always been in environments surrounded with art which is what inspired and lead him to starting his own artistic journey in 2016.
Ali Alamdar’s medium of choice is oil paint, it has always been his preferred medium because he enjoys the thick creamy texture of oil paint and finds it therapeutic to work with. In his opinion, oil paint works better with his style of leaving bold, visible brush strokes with minimal blending, unlike any other medium he has tried.
Alamdar is currently recognized for his unique portrait painting style, stating that “people initially tend to notice flaws and faults”, Alamdar’s style emphasizes the attraction and fascination imperfections hold and embodies them into his work. By purposely leaving out important features, and leaving areas unfinished, Ali creates a sense of mystery and suspense in his paintings, leaving it open for interpretation. This allows for the onlooker to devise their own story for the painting, instead of restricting the art to a specific meaning.
